For most of us, Fall signals the arrival of everything warm and cozy, from changing leaves and apple picking to hot drinks and big sweaters. However, with all of the good things that come along with the season, there are also some things that are a bit more unpleasant, like cold, rainy weather. (And, for those of us, like me, who live in colder places, sometimes snowy weather as well!)
Furthermore, while those damp, miserable days might make you want to jet off to the nearest warm-weather destination ASAP, sometimes, you have no choice but to go out and face the lousy weather head-on.
But, if there’s one thing that’s sure to cheer you (and me!) up, it’s the idea of having something chic–and functional–to wear in those less-than-perfect conditions.
That’s what inspired me to scour the web for seven of the cutest pairs of rain boots that are sure to add some cheer to your ensemble on rainy (and even snowy) days.

1. Hunter Original Refined Waterproof Rain Boot
The original Hunter rain boots are no doubt a wardrobe staple for college girls everywhere! But I especially love this sleek update on their traditional silhouette.
Not only do these stylish rain boots give off a more modern vibe; their gorgeous Millennial pink hue gives your look just the right amount of color to make you stand apart from the crowd.
Personally, I love the idea of wearing these boots with a preppy outfit, such as dark-wash skinny jeans, a striped top, and a timeless beige trench, for a classy vibe.
2. Keds x Rifle Paper Co. Scout Water-Resistant Boot
(Also available here in khaki green)
If you’re looking to liven up your rainy-day look, then you’ll love these adorable floral rain boots!
And, I know you might be thinking that printed boots aren’t practical enough to invest in for everyday wear. But! These stylish rain boots are actually super-versatile, thanks to their more muted color scheme and sneaker-like silhouette.
In addition, since these boots are pretty casual, you can wear them with just about any daytime look. I think they’d look particularly cool with an oversized shirtdress, leggings, thick wooly socks, and a parka.
3. Sperry Saltwater 2-Eye Nubuck Duck Boot
For those of you whose personal style is vintage-inspired, these pastel duck boots are sure to be right up your alley!
Their soft color scheme totally reminds me of something that you might find in the 1950s or 1960s, while their classic style ensures that they won’t look dated. What’s more, these boots appear to be made quite solidly, making them great for rainy days as well as lighter snow days.
For a retro-chic look, try wearing them with pastel-colored corduroys, a cozy chunky-knit turtleneck sweater, a belted mid-length coat in a soft neutral color, and a beret.
4. Sam Edelman Tinsley Rain Boot
If you can’t get enough of the leopard print trend this season, then these cool, ankle-height boots were practically made for you! Their darker, muted color scheme makes them wearable with just about any color or print. (You can finally convince your friends that animal print is, in fact, a neutral!)
Also, their modern Chelsea-boot-inspired design makes them a great option for edgy and classic fashionistas alike.
For a look that combines both of these opposing sensibilities, pair these cute rain boots with straight-fitting black pants, a fitted gray turtleneck, and a black faux-leather jacket that won’t get ruined in light rain (like a real leather jacket would).
5. J.Crew Tall Lace-Up Rain Boots
I just love a good detail, and the gingham ties on these stylish rain boots are just perfect!
For anyone who wants to switch up their look, but is a bit hesitant about making a huge statement, these minimal-yet-feminine boots are just what you need to take you outside of your comfort zone without losing sight of it completely.
Because this pair goes with just about any look you can come up with, the styling possibilities are endless! But, I would wear these boots with a brightly colored silky blouse, a black skater skirt, opaque black tights, a cute rubber rain coat, and a girly hairband or embellished hair clip.
6. Report Footwear Slicker Rain Boot
I can’t be the only one around here who’s obsessed with all things sparkly! That’s why I love these glam and glittery Chelsea-style rain boots!
Although glitter boots might seem hard to wear, they’re actually surprisingly easy to style; just be sure not to overdo it by wearing anything else that’s glittery or super-sparkly.
To make the glitter stand out even more, I’d recommend pairing these boots with an all-black outfit; for example, a black sweater-dress, black leggings, and a black puffer jacket. However, if you’re up for something more daring, feel free to add a bright piece or two!
7. Joules Molly Welly Rain Boot
How cute are these dog-printed rain boots?! (Answer: The cutest!)
No matter your style, you’ll definitely look forward to putting on these super-fun boots, even on the dreariest of days. Seriously, you’ll want to go outside in the rain (or snow) just so you can wear them!
Plus, I don’t know about you, but I can’t resist a bright splash of red. This is especially true when it’s paired with other pieces in shades of blue.
So, to really make these boots stand out, consider wearing them with a light blue button-up shirt, jeans in any shade of blue, and a navy blue pea coat. Bonus points if you add red lipstick for a coordinated second pop of color!
