Thanks again to our friends at PBdorm for making this possible!
On our first night in our dorm, my roommates and I made milkshakes, ate popcorn and “watched” The Little Mermaid, though the we spent most of the night talking and laughing and creating inside jokes that still make us laugh to this day. =)
The night before our last final me and my friends decided to take a HUGE study break and made a bed out of blankets on the floor and watched a movie.
Me and several friends all banded together and made a fort out of sheets! We made popcorn and had a Disney movie marathon. It was the absolute best thing in the world to take a night to say “the world won’t end if I take one night off.” I have a comprehensive science major, so studying isn’t just something you do, it
s something you die without. It made the whole month better to remember the great time we had and let it remind me to take time for myself.
My favorite memory in my dorm room is learning how to do the dougie, wobble, and hoedown throwdown with my hallmate!
My best apartment memories all involve delicious home-cooked food and good company. One time I invited over friends and colleagues from a student group I was involved with for a fabulous dinner party with interesting ingredients like mint-pea chicken and agar-agar desserts. It was fun to work, play and cook together as a team.
My favorite memory was while my friend was at school all day my other roommates and I blew up a ton of balloons and filled her room with them and a bunch of other cute decorations she could still use on a regular basis and then bake a ton of cupcakes and a huge cookie with ice cream! She loved it & now we all do that for each.
My favorite memory in my room was last Friday. It was my boyfriend and I’s 7 month anniversary, and we hadn’t gotten to celebrate our six months because of it being on move in weekend for college. He had to work that night a few hours later than me, so after work I rushed back to my dorm apartment and made his favorite type of pasta with homemade sauce, homemade deep fried mushrooms and avocado, and croissants along with an apple fresh dessert via pinterest. There were flowers on the table and everything was perfect. It was a romantic and calm evening in the midst of tests to celebrate our commitment to each other.
I went to visit my friend Sade at her college and the first time I visited I slept on the sofa, which took for ever to get in her room (even more so to get it out).So then the next time I came over she asked her roommate (whose never in her room) if I could sleep on her bed. She’d replace her sheets (I’d put mine on the bed instead) and would wash them for her. For some reason Sade decide to put a red duvet with a white comforter. So her roommate’s once white comforter was now pink. So we spent almost the entire day plotting what we’d do about the situation. And so at some point she finally decided to tell her roommate. Her roommate texted her back saying she could barely tell that anything was different and we also soon could not notice a difference. So we were worried for no reason.
I think my favorite thing that’s happened in my room is the “fake birthday” party that my roommates through for me and our other friend my freshman year. Everyone else had birthdays during the school year, while my friend and I had birthdays in the summer when we wouldn’t be at school, so it was nice to celebrate a little earlier with people I loved.
It was a couple of days before my birthday and I was studying at the library…my roomie Brenda called me & told me to hurry and come to our dorm room. I asked her what’s wrong but she hung up on me. I finally get there & who’s there waiting for me? My boyfriend! He had been gone to Iraq for 7 months & had been planning the surprise for weeks with Brenda’s help of course. She still talks about it since she’s never been the best about keeping secrets ^___^
When my friends surprised me in my dorm room for my birthday. They then proceeded to blindfold me and lead me out to dinner, all while throwing me off by telling jokes about where we were going.
I live in a suite, so I have three other roommates. One of them is one of my best friends. Our other two suitemates were gone for the weekend so we spent our Saturday night eating junk food and watching Matilda and Breaking Bad. It was nice because we were both extremely homesick and it took our minds off of it and reminded us of the sleepovers we had back home!
It was during my 2nd year in the dorm and late at night, with my 2 dorm mates and I (we had a triple). I don’t remember how it got started, but we started a conversation about religion and other very personal things. It lasted for a long time and I felt we had a much deeper connection afterwards.
Once, my roommate went to grab something from our fridge which is located by our doorway. The door was open so everyone could see into our room. She had just taken a shower and was still in her towel. One of the girls next door to us had her parents visiting that weekend and they were returning to her room. My roommate said, “Hi!” and then looked down and realized she was in a towel and turned bright red, said “Sorry” and ducked out of view. It was pretty hilarious. She went next door after that to do damage control, after she got dressed of course.
I spent 3 months having Big Bang Theory marathons with my best friend every weekend
I’ve only lived in my dorm a a couple months but the best was decorating it with all my photographs, drawing, plants, and jewelry, and then being able to wrap up cozily to catch up on all my shows: Sherlock, Big Bang Theory, and Doctor Who. Nerdiest FTW!
