The best was when my little niece stayed with me for a few days while her mom had a baby because she is only four but she is such a girly girl and every night was like a slumber party! I painted her nails and did her hair and she loved it. So did I, that was really fun.
One of my favorite memories is from my freshman year, when we managed to pack about 20 girls from my hall into one tiny room and had a massive dance party…at 2:30am. I’m sure everyone below us must have hated us, but we had a blast!
I was kidnapped from my dorm.
Well, sort of. It felt like a kidnapping, but I was actually being blindfolded and taken upstairs for a surprise birthday party.
Being a RA was an extremely great time in my life and now that I am no longer a RA, I kind of miss the meaningful conversations. My favorite memory in my room happened when my best friends came over to my room after summer and told me that they were dating. It was a really exciting time in all of our lives and I’m glad that they felt comfortable telling me that. Our relationships have only gotten stronger over the years. I love my room and love living on campus. I want my room to be a second home.
My favorite memory from dorm life was when they shut down the showers for weeks, alledgedly because they were being repaired, but we all knew that it was because they just wanted to cut down on expenses so that they could brag about it in front of their superiors. We had to sneak in/ borrow electric heaters to boil water and wash our hair. Bittersweet moments from when I was back home (Tunisia).
My favorite memory in my dorm was the first day that I moved in, when my parents said goodbye and left, and I felt like such a grown-up living on my own.
Other than that, there aren’t too many happy memories in that room because I hated my roommate and I ended up moving back home after my freshman year. So depressing, haha.
We lived in the forest and would go hiking every afternoon, eat a sandwich (reference How I Met Your Mother) and hang out in our dorm til late at night..then do it all over again the next day!
My roommate and I had a dance movie marathon where we made popcorn and giggled and talked about our favorite clothes and magazines. It was such a fantastic bonding experience and a great memory.
The thing I love most about my room is that it is a sanctuary for me and my friends. It’s where we have “girls nights”, eat take out on the floor, and just hang out together. Its where we can escape the drama and pressure that is in our lives and just relax.
My best memory was during sophomore year when I hosted high school admits in my room as part of our school’s admit weekend. I had only signed up to host 1 or 2 girls but I ended up taking a whole group of 15 boys and girls. We stayed up all night playing Apples to Apples and bonding. It made me feel very special to have been part of their decision in choosing my school as their college choice.
My room mate and our friend were stuck at our apartment during hurricane Issac because there was a city curfew. We ended up cooking and all the food in our fridge! We had left overs for weeks and it was fun cooking, laughing, eating, and watching TV!
My favorite dorm/apartment memory was last year. It was my birthday, and I woke up and took a shower. After getting out of the shower, I went back to my bedroom to find a medium-sized square box sitting on my bed. After wondering how it got there, I opened it up to find a porcelain shoe, filled with flowers! Also, there was a note from my mom, saying that she was going to miss seeing me on my birthday, but wanted to surprise me with these flowers and that they were all wishing me a happy birthday from home. Afterwards, I learned that the box was delivered by the floral company while I was in the shower, and my roommate had placed it on my bed so I would find it then. It was SUCH a surprise and I will always treasure the memory!
My favorite dorm memory happened two weeks ago.
One of the girls in my suite who is a film major needed help filming a scary movie for a class so all the girls in the suite helped her by helping to haunt the dorms! We flickered lights, opened and close doors and shower curtains, and randomly turned on the sink faucets. She had the best video in her class!
For my friends birthday I got her a nail stamping plate with over 100 stamp options. We attempted to fill our nails with as many stamps as possible while cracking up to Talledega Nights. What seemed to be a simple night was one of the funniest I’ve had in my dorm!
staying up with my roommates in my room and sharing stories instead of going to a party.
