With school getting back into full swing, itβs no secret that we could all use a little boost in getting back into the daily grind. Studying, memorizing and presenting is not an easy feat for any of us, and memorizing pages of material for those dreaded exams is probably one of the most stressful parts of college.
In an effort to add a little fun to the memorization process, Coca-Cola has launched the Crammer Keeper, a free new online tool that turns notes into catchy tunesβ¦helping you memorize your notes in a new and fun way. Users can select the voice, choose a track genre (hip hop, rock, etc.) and then download the song onto their computers and share with their classmates and friends. Might as well turn your boring notes into a hip hop single, right?
It gets better, though – to help spread the word around the launch of the Crammer Keeper, Coca-Cola is giving away an iPod Touch to one lucky CF reader! Read on for all the details on how to win!

I usually just end up reviewing old notes by myself. However, in times of serious, cannot be distracted study time that also requires a computer, I just turn off my wireless connection. It cuts down on the impulses to check my e-mail or one tiny little thing.
My best piece of advice would be to take care of your body. Get enough sleep, exercise, eat right. You’ll learn better and faster, be more efficient, less stressed and be happier overall. Great giveaway!
I always have trouble with my math subjects, so when I need to study for quizzes or tests, I read my notes out loud, and then write down important points over and over (like formulas). Sometimes I explain concepts to my friends, which helps me because I understand the subject well enough to teach it to others, and it helps my friends as well.
I make up really weird memory aids and I use acronyms all the time! The weirder, the better I remember them!!
I wish Puerto Rican residents could participate π
I always like to rewrite the lyrics to songs so that they contain study material. One of my favorites was changing Ke$ha’s TiK ToK to a song about the Cold War.
Flashcards and listening to soft music always help as well.
My tip is to get enough sleep! Its so much easier to stay focused when you’re well rested.
I use the SQ3R study method they teach in high school. It’s a acronym that stands for Survey, Question, Read, Recite, Review.
Survey- You look over and organize the information you need for the test here. You can make a plan for what you need to know/how long each section will take/etc.
Question- Ask yourself questions as you study that make you apply your knowledge.
Read- Read over notes, outlines, etc. (making sure you ask questions as you go!)
Recite- In your mind or out lout repeat what you just went over. If you say it out loud it really helps you remember, but you look odd if you’re in the library. lol
Review- Go back over the main concepts and make sure you understand everything. If you don’t, write down a few questions to ask the professor before the test.
What I do is study in a group. I noticed when I am in a group, we all tent to challenge ourselves to do our best. I would go to a quite place with the group and each of us have our own ways of studying and we put them all together.
We each do our own work but when we have questions we ask each other. I think having that support group makes studying so much easier and fun.
And also we have breaks and use them to relax so we don’t have a brain overload.
Best tip:
Make friends in your classes and study together, teach together on a weekly basis.
My best study tip would be to NOT procrastinate and wait until the last minute. Break each section up and study for about an hour or two each day the whole week leading up to the test. Get lots of sleep and make sure you’re eating right. If I don’t eat right I cannot focus!!! π Then just review everything you have been studying for the night before. I have always been successful π
My study tip is for math tests which can be really hard to study for. Partner up with someone in your class and make a practice test from old homework problems. Take each others test and then grade them. Its a lot more interesting that just doing it from the book and it helps with practicing for test conditions which can be stressful.
Like any kind of war or conflict, preparation is key. Cramming not only squeezes your brain out and leave it in juicy and hollow pieces, but it also sacrifices the point of studying – learning the material itself. The best way to go about studying is to just pan it out and start studying from the start of class. Memory retention is not a joke – if you cram it all in one overnight cram session, not a lot would be retained. You can still be a normal college kid while doing this – study weekdays and party weekends! It’s kind of a nerd-tip (self-confessed nerd here), but isn’t that what we’re supposed to do in the first place? So exercise your long-term memory and chances are you’d Ace the test π
Although I do tend to get together with classmates when I am unsure of certain topics, studying alone tends to help the information stick. I cannot study in a messy area so first and foremost I DE-CLUTTER my study area. The TV is off and no music is playing; no computer on (unless googling) and the cell phone is kept away.
Also, I find that repeating hard to grasp concepts out loud help them stick. That, and coming up with snazzy phrases.
Hopes this helps!
I have more recently found it so important to read over notes immediately following your class, that way, when it comes to studying, you are not completely clueless of what you are trying to memorize. When studying, I find it helpful to rewrite notes and read over them, going back through to memorize important details!
Repetition, repetition, repetition. Repeatedly studying the material over and over again helps drill the information into my brain. If I have read something over and over again, come test/final time I am able to read the question and have a mini flashback of what I read about it and answer to the best of my ability!
