With school getting back into full swing, it’s no secret that we could all use a little boost in getting back into the daily grind. Studying, memorizing and presenting is not an easy feat for any of us, and memorizing pages of material for those dreaded exams is probably one of the most stressful parts of college.
In an effort to add a little fun to the memorization process, Coca-Cola has launched the Crammer Keeper, a free new online tool that turns notes into catchy tunes…helping you memorize your notes in a new and fun way. Users can select the voice, choose a track genre (hip hop, rock, etc.) and then download the song onto their computers and share with their classmates and friends. Might as well turn your boring notes into a hip hop single, right?
It gets better, though – to help spread the word around the launch of the Crammer Keeper, Coca-Cola is giving away an iPod Touch to one lucky CF reader! Read on for all the details on how to win!

In order to prepare for a most productive study session, I take really good notes in my college courses. This includes separating lecture notes and book notes and filing them away together according to relevance. Good study notes do not mean to take the professors’ words down verbatim–I try to bullet point the main points and then move on. For the courses that I find are lecture heavy (especially when the professor does not post a video of the lecture online), I record the professor on my personal recorder. Before doing this, you should definitely ask the professor since their lectures are their intellectual property–most would allow you to record them.
When I actually sit down to study my notes, I actively try to understand the material by doing practice problems. If the course is very memorization heavy, I make flashcards.
The best study tip(s) that I know is to first tackle off the hard stuff that you know you’ll need time to work on, then once you’re done, you can go back and review the parts that you already feel comfortable with. Also, always study the vocabulary and use Quizlet to help make online quizzes and flashcards! 🙂 And lastly, if you need music to get you through the night, listen to soothing, relaxing music, or even baroque music, because it helps you concentrate!
I’m a Writing major, so I tend to have a lot of projects going at one time, along with many pages of literature to read, so I try to split my time between all of them. I will read a few pages of one text, and then switch to another, and then switch to writing for a bit. I feel that multi-tasking allows me to get much more done.
Listen to a playlist with a good mix of upbeat and relaxing songs (good for timing break times too) and study in a place that’s not too distracting. Also, get a decent amount of sleep.
actually DO your work and your reading throughout the semester! that way instead of cramming for tests, you’re just refreshing yourself on things you already know
Eat healthy, drink healthy stay healthy & be positive don;t cram everything at the end.. gradually read as and when you go to class .. day before test should just be a revisions
As weird as this sounds, I eat a banana before the start of each test. Apparently this helps you concentrate and remember better.
What has always helped me study is just studying throughout the semester. Every night, study the material for about twenty minutes. This helps it turn into long term memory and will really help come finals. If you do this, your finals week studying time will be cut in half!
I usually make up a study guide for myself so I can focus on things I need to know and not be bogged down on random facts. I also do my studying in 3’s. Three days before the day of exam, I study my study guide every day 3 different times (one in the morning, one in the afternoon, and one at night). It is all about memorization, more for some exams than others but it is nice to have it be constantly refreshed in the mind.
I use computer programs to make songs up for the information I need to remember, I make sure to write it out first then turn it into a tune so I can combine a visual and audio picture of what I need to remember. I then put it on an mp3 and listen to it when throughout the day. I find that when I listen to something repeatedly it gets stuck in my brain, rather than reading something over and over.
I either make flash cards- or just rewrite my notes over and over again. The more I write something down, the more I remember it!
I love writing lines to memorize, and as a double bonus it helps me with my handwriting.
I HAVE to talk out my ideas, so I get groups together and we just talk about the material. Also, I like to passively listen to podcasts while I’m walking or cleaning or something, maybe something in there sticks!
I leave my laptop behind, and head to my fav coffee shop. I rewrite my notes and colour code everything. After reading over my notes several times I then recite everything in my head as if I was teaching the material and copious amounts of caffeine help!!!
My best study tip is to listen and participate in class! You’ll be able to retain more information since you were actually listening in class, so when you study, it’ll all just be review!
Start studying early! By breaking up the studying in chunks and reviewing notes while it’s still fresh in your mind, it’s less overwhelming and it’ll give you that many more times to look through the material!
