Selena Gomez has been everywhere recently, dropping her chart-topping single “Good for You,” releasing her jaw-dropping new music video, and becoming the new face of Pantene. Her career isn’t the only thing evolving. Selena has also been stepping up her fashion game on and off the red carpet.
Selena is the perfect source of style inspiration due to her broad range in fashion. We see her in cool boho outfits at Coachella, looking super-glam at awards shows, and rocking denim cut-offs when running errands.
In this A Week in Her Style post, we’re taking inspiration from Selena’s top street style looks for a week’s worth of fashion-forward outfits.
Table of Contents
Monday:
Distressed jeans are one of this summer’s top trends. They can be dressed up or down, which makes them ideal for a casual day-to-night transition. Pair the loose-fitting boyfriend jeans with a fitted bodysuit to keep your shape without overpowering the pants (check out American Apparel for inexpensive ones).
Accessorize like Selena did with a choker necklace to keep all eyes on the ripped jeans. Finish the outfit with a neutral booties, or make the look even more casual with a pair of sneakers.
Tuesday:
A girls’ day out means one thing: COMFORT. Selena’s cute and casual outfit proves that you can be both stylish and comfy. Pair white skinny jeans, or for a more low-key look, white leggings like Selena’s wearing, with a cropped denim shirt.
A pair of slip-on sneakers are the perfect shoe for walking around the mall. (Who knew sneakers would become such a huge trend?) Top off your outfit with a pair of mirrored sunglasses.
Wednesday:
Nothing screams summertime like a pair of cut-off denim shorts. They are a staple that everyone has in their wardrobe (if not, check out this DIY tutorial to learn how to create your own). Keep the look casual yet chic by adding a printed blouse and a pair of flats or sandals.
One of my favorite parts about summer is wearing white, whether it’s white pants, a cute white blouse, or in this case, a nice white handbag. This is the perfect statement piece for a casual summer outfit.
Thursday:
Selena has embraced her edgier side this year, and it is clearly displayed in this outfit. To get this look, combine a pair of black skinny jeans with a distressed black tank. Both items can be purchased, but for a cheaper alternative take an old black tank and jeans and cut and distress them yourself.
For a more summer-appropriate outfit, trade the boots in for a pair sandals or sneakers. Complete the look with a blue fedora for an unexpected pop of color.
Friday:
On a Friday, rock an edgy monochromatic look. Pair together black skinny jeans and a sheer black tank. Add a black bralette underneath and a pair of killer black heeled booties for even more edge.
Since the look sticks to just one color, you can spice it up with accessories. A statement necklace adds the perfect amount of glam without taking away the edge. Finish it off with a cute clutch and you have the perfect outfit for a night out with friends.
Saturday:
Normally, when you think of summer you think of bright colors, but this year black and white is the major color combo. Make a statement this Saturday with a black-and-white sleeveless crop top.
For a more formal summer look– perfect for a night out or dinner with friends– pair the top with high-waisted pants, like Selena, or opt for a high-waisted maxi skirt. This outfit is super-simple yet sophisticated, so have fun with a cute pair of heels or gladiator sandals.
Sunday:
Kick-off your casual Sunday spent running errands by rocking a pair of denim shorts. Pair the shorts with a simple white tank top, but who says summer style has to be boring? A basic tee and jeans can totally be transformed with a printed jacket or kimono.
Any outfit is instantly more fashionable with the right shoes. Add a pair of sleek ankle boots for effortless style.
