It’s officially the holiday season, and, with all of the holiday events and parties in progress/coming up, that means that all things glitzy and glam are officially in style! Personally, one of my favorite things, fashion-wise, about this fun time of year is all of the sparkly sequined pieces we get to see and wear.
But, who says that sequins are just reserved for holiday-related evening occasions? What if you want to wear sequins outside of the holiday season — and not just during the evening, but during the day as well? After all, here at CF, we’re all about re-wearing our favorite pieces in new and unconventional ways — and wearing sequins during the day is definitely not typical!
So, if you’re wondering how to pull off this daring and chic — but tricky — look, just keep reading!

How to Wear Sequins During the Day: Outfit #1
Products: Sweater – J.Crew, Earrings – Revolve, Knee-High Boots – DSW, Skirt – Bloomingdale’s, Bag – Mango, Socks – DSW
For this look, which revolves around a gorgeous rose-gold-and-silver sequined mini skirt, I was inspired to create a rustic-yet-feminine outfit that is also super-cozy.
To recreate it for yourself, style the skirt with a warm, cream-colored popcorn knit sweater.
Next, put on a pair of over-the-knee socks and taupe knee-high boots for a boho-chic way to keep your legs warm.
Gold heart drop earrings add a bit of drama without distracting from the rest of the look, while a bucket bag with a rope handle adds just the right amount of ruggedness to complete this beautiful ensemble.
How to Wear Sequins During the Day: Outfit #2
Products: Camisole – Nordstrom, Jeans – Zara, Cardigan – Mango, Bag – Mango, Ankle Boots – Zara, Earrings – Revolve, Necklace – Revolve, Ring Set – Shopbop, Bracelet – Nordstrom, Eyeshadow – Colourpop
Look #2 is based around a classic party staple, AKA the sequin camisole. I love how this particular one has a wavy hem and a subtle mix of navy and black sequins to give it a little something extra. Personally, I can see this outfit being worn to class, or even out shopping if you’re feeling fancy!
Here, I decided to go with a bit of a grungier, rock-chick aesthetic, so I decided to pair the cami with uneven, frayed-hem black skinny jeans, as well as an oversized cardigan in dark gray to add a relaxed vibe.
A classic, faux-croc bag is a fail-safe option, while heeled Chelsea-style, pointed-toe boots add a modern twist.
For jewelry, I decided to go with an all-silver color palette with these pretty pavé mini hoops, a delicate necklace, cute stacking rings, and a cool open pavé cuff bracelet.
Finally, swipe some of this mauve eyeshadow across your lids (or use it with other shades of purple to create a smokier look), and you’re all done!
How to Wear Sequins During the Day: Outfit #3
Products: Dress – Nordstrom, T-Shirt – Aritzia, Headband – Forever 21, Hiking Boots – Urban Outfitters, Jacket – Zara, Socks – Urban Outfitters, Necklace – Revolve, Bag – Zara
For the final look, I decided to go with a wintry daytime-glam outfit, which I styled around this amazing gold sequin slip dress.
To make this low-cut and low-back style appropriate for day, layer the dress with a comfortable tissue-thin long-sleeved turtleneck t-shirt for a contemporary take on a ’90s-inspired look.
Put on a pair of super-trendy hiking boots layered with knit socks peeking out over the tops to keep your feet warm. (Note: If it’s too cold to go bare-legged, I recommend layering on gray leggings or wool tights as well.)
An of-the-moment pile jacket turns down the glitz factor while upping the coziness factor — making this look even more wearable for day — while a golden-yellow paisley-printed headband and a feminine locket necklace both add a boho sensibility.
Pick up a modern asymmetrical hobo bag with translucent ring details on the handle to finish off this super-cute look!
