Berets are one of the major accessory trends for Fall 2017, and I, for one, couldn’t be happier! There is something about the beret that perfectly finishes off any look while adding a certain je-ne-sais-quoi.
And, with all of the options out there this year, from basic black to bright colors to embellished, there is sure to be a beret to suit your personal style. Not to mention that berets look good on literally everyone.
Still not convinced? Keep scrolling to learn how to wear a beret. To help, I’ve created preppy, casual, feminine, and boho outfits with berets. I guarantee that, by the time you’ve gotten through this post you’ll be inspired to rock this cool trend!
Table of Contents
Outfit #1: Preppy
Products: Shirt – Lands’ End, Cardigan – Uniqlo, Pants – Uniqlo, Beret – Nordstrom, Earrings – Amrita Singh Jewelry, Ring – Shopbop, Bracelet – J.Crew Factory, Belt – Ann Taylor, Bag – Zara, Loafers – Gap
This preppy look, with its classic silhouettes and varied textures, would be perfect for those days when you feel like getting a little bit more dressed up. It would also be great as a business-casual work/internship outfit.
Start with a striped shirt with feminine ruffle details at the collar and cuffs. Next, put on a camel-colored v-neck cardigan. Rock tweed ankle-length pants, and add a simple cognac-colored belt. (If you want to show off the belt without the formality of a tucked-in shirt, try a half-tuck instead!)
For accessories, put on a pair of cute knotted studs, as well as a pretty multi-strand pearl bracelet and a modern starburst signet ring. Grab a dark gray croc-embossed bag, and finally, add a bright red beret for a fun pop of color.
Outfit #2: Casual
Products: T-Shirt – J.Crew, Bracelet – Henri Bendel, Loafers – Zara, Jeans – Old Navy, Beret – Uniqlo, Jacket – Target, Scarf – Forever 21, Backpack – Mango
This casual, (almost) monochromatic look is the perfect example of how dressing down doesn’t have to equal dressing in a sloppy way!
To re-create it for yourself, put on a slogan t-shirt (This one from J.Crew is so chic!) and some high-waisted skinny jeans. Then, throw on a bomber jacket with pretty ruffle details.
Slip on a pair of dark oxblood-colored loafers, and put on an edgy embellished leather bracelet. Wrap a houndstooth scarf around your neck, and pick up a trendy backpack with a metal ring handle.
Top off the look with a cozy light gray beret, and you’re all set to go!
Outfit #3: Feminine
Products: Dress – Modcloth, Coat – Zara, Flats – Sole Society, Beret – Lord & Taylor, Belt – Amazon, Liquid Lipstick – Sephora, Earrings – Kohl’s, Bangle – Nordstrom, Necklace – BaubleBar, Bag – Mango
If your style is feminine, then you’ll love this beautiful, timeless ensemble!
Start by putting on a mustard-colored a-line dress with a cute ruffle detail. Next, belt it at the waist with a gorgeous black velvet bow belt.
Put on some classy cap-toe flats, as well as a pair of pearl earrings, a delicate bangle, and a statement necklace. Add an always-in-style black quilted chain-strap bag for an instant touch of glamour, and then throw on an investment-worthy short trench coat.
Swipe on Kat Von D’s liquid lipstick in the shade “Lolita II” for a flattering boost of color, then finish off the look with an adorable pale pink beret with star embroidery.
Outfit #4: Boho
Products: Dress – Zara, Vest – Charlotte Russe, Boots – Nordstrom Rack, Beret – H&M, Earrings – Nordstrom, Ring – Sole Society, Bracelet – Nordstrom, Scarf – Century 21, Bag – Barney’s Warehouse
This boho ensemble is full of luxe fabrics and beautiful details, and would look amazing for you boho chic girls worn both during the day and at night.
To get the look, begin by putting on an elegant floral-printed midi-length dress. Next, add a pair of brown heeled knee-high boots; although these ones are quite the splurge, I love the gorgeous suede material and modern shape, and think that they would make a great addition to any fall/winter wardrobe for years to come.
Layer on a (faux) fur vest in a fashion-forward oxblood shade, and wrap a warm charcoal-gray scarf around your neck.
Put on some unique jewelry, such as these “tasselled” hoop earrings, wrap-around ring, and multi-chain bracelet, and grab a holds-everything cognac-brown hobo bag. Complete the look with an understated black beret.
