Today, I want to talk about fashion inspiration. Sometimes, it can be difficult to come up with new outfits, and I often get asked about how you’re supposed to keep up with it all. In an industry where everything changes every other day, how do you stay inspired without buying a whole new wardrobe weekly?

There’s a lot of creativity involved in fashion – even if it’s just in choosing how you wear the few basic pieces you have. Just like artists and writers look for inspiration to keep their creativity flowing, fashionistas need inspiration, too!

There are many ways to find fashion inspiration (which I’ll discuss more later), but one easy way is to have a celebrity fashion muse.

What is a celebrity fashion muse?

A celebrity fashion muse is someone you look to for fashion inspiration. You can check out what this celebrity wears, take notes on how they wear different items, what colors look good on them, etc. It’s a way to keep your style current while you learn about fashion.

Taking fashion notes from a celebrity is also a good way to get a feel for how your body type may look in different types of clothing. Want to try a pair of high-waisted pants but aren’t sure if they’ll look right?

Let your celebrity fashion muse do it first, and observe their results before you buy a pair yourself.

Why celebrities?

These days, they have really amazing stylists and are basically walking fashion editorials going to Starbucks. And because these famous people pay a professional to dress them and have access to all the latest designer clothes, observing them is a great way to find out about the newest trends & pieces before they hit stores.

How To Pick A Celebrity Fashion Muse

So, how do you go about choosing a celeb to be your fashion inspiration of the moment? Here are some points to consider when you go about finding the perfect one.

  • Look for someone who looks like you. In terms of hair color, height, etc., look for someone that you think you resemble. Don’t expect to find a perfect clone of yourself in Hollywood, but find someone that you identify with.
  • Find a celeb with a similar body type. This isn’t a must, but it really helps when it comes to figuring out what types of clothes will look best on you.
  • Look for a similar sense of personal style. Another bonus. If you can find a celeb who’s personal style resembles your own, that’s another great way to get inspiration and exposure to new pieces that you may like.

Here are some examples of celebrity fashion muses to get you started. These are just some examples of celebrities with large followings – if you hate them all, feel free to find your own!

Embrace Zendaya‘s bold and fearless fashion sense by rocking vibrant colors, daring patterns, and unexpected silhouettes. Think power suits with feminine details, dramatic capes, and statement jewelry.

3. Rihanna

Rihanna’s style is all about owning your sexiness and confidence. Think bodycon dresses with thigh-high slits, oversized denim jackets over lingerie, and sky-high heels. Neon accents and statement accessories are your friends.

4. Sofia Richie

If you love a feminine vibe with an “old money” feel, Sofia’s your girl. Neutral-toned maxi dresses, delicate lace tops, and quiet luxury basics are staples in her wardrobe.

5. Selena Gomez

Selena’s style is all about effortless chic with a playful twist. Think comfy rompers, cute sundresses, and vintage-inspired denim paired with sneakers or ankle boots. Don’t forget a pop of color!

6. Taylor Swift

Taylor’s style has evolved from country charm to sophisticated glam. Channel her current vibe with preppy staples like pleated skirts and cable-knit sweaters, or embrace her love for feminine dresses and bold red lips.

7. Bella Hadid

Bella’s street style is all about edgy sophistication. She loves crop tops, low-rise jeans, leather jackets, and graphic tees paired with sneakers and Y2K bags. Don’t shy away from bold makeup and statement sunglasses.

8. Tiffany Young

Tiffany’s style is a playful mix of K-pop trends and Western chic, with bold colors, quirky prints, and unexpected pairings like feminine dresses with statement sneakers. Rock a high ponytail and statement earrings for extra points.

Ashley‘s all about celebrating curves and owning your confidence. Think bodycon dresses with bold prints, high-waisted jeans with crop tops, and statement jackets that accentuate your figure.

10. Billie Eilish

Billie’s style is as unique as her music. To get her vibe, go for oversized streetwear, baggy silhouettes, and bold graphic prints. Layer on necklaces, rings, and bucket hats for an extra dose of her signature edge.

Remember, these are just starting points! Don’t be afraid to mix and match elements from different muses or add your own personal touch. The most important thing is to feel confident and express your unique style. So channel your inner fashion icon and rock those outfits with sass!

One Reminder:

A quick note of caution on this: When you look for inspiration in celebrity outfits, always add your own individual twist to their look. It’s no fun to copy someone’s outfit piece for piece: it’s like fashion plagiarism!

Let celebrity outfits and styles inspire you, but don’t rip the picture out of the magazine and buy every single piece. Have the confidence to wear your own version of their look and change it to suit you.

What do you think?

Now that you know all about celebrity fashion inspiration, I want to know: who is your celebrity fashion muse? Are there any famous girls whose styles inspire you? Let me know what you think by leaving a comment! Also, tell me if you think there’s anyone I forgot here.

Check back again soon for more sources of fashion inspiration – I’m going to be talking more about this in the weeks to come.

  1. I love how lauren conrad, rachel bilson and leighton meester/blair waldorf dress. I like the girly and more simple style.

For makeup, I really like how Ashley Olsen has hers done. If you’re ever doing anything on makeup, can you maybe look into product or ways to get hers? I especially like how her eyes are done. I can’t find much online though.

  3. I really love Rachel Bilson’s style too, I like the fact that we both have the same skin tone, hair colour and eye colour, but I can’t pull off everything she wears because I’m taller and curvier than her. Bright colours might look good on you when you’re petite, but otherwise you’ll look awkward. 🙁

My other favorite is Vanessa Hudgens, but the same here again, she’s so petite too. Kate Moss has awesome style, but she has a quite different colour palette to match. Then I like Alexis Bledel, Selena Gomez and Margharita Missoni. But it’s quite hard to get candids from Alexis and Margharita.

  4. I tend to look at Rachel Bilson for fashion inspiration, as like me she’s quite young, brunette, petite and fairly slim but also pear-shaped. I also like to look to Kristen Stewart, I admire her laid-back, casual look, though I can’t wear everything she does as she’s a lot skinnier and more athletic-looking than me. I’d really appreciate anyone who could suggest some young, brunette, petite pear-shaped women for me to look to?

  5. Lindsey Lohan is definitely one of my top celebrity style muses (especially in Georgia Rule). I love how she can look relaxed and glamorous in leggings. I also LOVE her dresses. I’m a huge dress person so I pull a lot of my style inspiration from her. As long as I don’t use her rehab stint as inspiration I think I’ll be fine!

  8. Rachel Bilson, Mk&A, & Nicole Richie are all great style muses for me. I’m super short so its inspiring to see fellow petite girls pull off maxi dresses & wide leg jeans. I love seeing the creative combinations they come up with.

  9. I would say for hair/makeup mine would be Halle Berry because her skin color and hair color are almost exact matches to mine and she always looks glowing and flawless…something I try to emulate! My clothing style is too all over the place to have one muse…I’d say Halle Berry again, Rachel Bilson, Sienna Miller, and way too many others to name!

  10. I’m Asian so it’s usually hard for me to find a celebrity fashion muse in Hollywood. I usually have to look for one in the Japanese/Chinese/Korean entertainment industry–and for someone who’s not totally thin, someone with curves. I consider Rainie Yang (http://yeinjee.com/asianpop/wp-content/uploads/2007/08/chinese-rainie-yang.jpg) to be one of my favorite fashion muse!

  11. i do have celebrity muses although i don’t go crazy looking or stalking them. i just pay attention to what they wear because i love their personal style…. come to think of it, i don’t actually really copy them at all, so i’m not sure if they are called muses!! 🙂

one particular muse of mine is a japanese singer/actress that i adore both for her individuality and ability to carry of whatever she wants to wear. i feel sometimes i’m actually designing for both myself and her, and that really helps my designs.
