Rejoice! It’s spring! The weather is finally warming up after what might have been the longest, most annoying winter I’ve ever experienced. My campus has been a burst of sartorial inspiration lately; as soon as the snow melted and temperatures peaked at 50, girls were breaking out sundresses, boat shoes, and challis pants. There was not a puffer coat to be seen and it was a glorious sight to behold.
One of my favorite trends for spring has got to be the kimono cardigan. It’s an accessory and a statement piece all on its own; it’s airy but can still act as a layering tool, and most importantly, they’re so ubiquitous that you can find one in any print or color imaginable at all your favorite stores. Basically, the possibilities are endless with these babies.
Below, I’ll be showing you how to style a kimono-style cardigan for both class and a night out. If you’re interested, read on:

During the day, let your kimono act as an accessory to a casual outfit. Pair a graphic tank top with comfy jogger pants, then slip on these lacy espadrille flats. Fun jewelry, like these pi-shaped earrings and this watercolor watch, are simple but pretty accents to your outfit. Fill this adorable tote with your books, then head to your classes in style!

For a fun night out, keep your outfit simple so your kimono cardigan really stands out. Choose a solid-colored slip dress, then layer on your kimono. Add sleek wedges to really elongate your legs. Pick a big, bold silver cuff bracelet and sparkly ear cuffs, then finish with a white crossbody bag.
