It’s that time of the semester again when classes become busier and students’ stress levels are rising higher. And of course, it’s that time of year when college students need a little break from their coursework. The best remedy? A comfy fall afternoon inside while you binge watch your favorite shows.
Here are a few of my favorite shows to watch while I’m de-stressing over the weekend. All of these are available on Netflix, and all but one have multiple seasons available.
Table of Contents
1. Orange Is The New Black
Let’s start with a binge-watching classic. Orange is the New Black is one of the best shows to binge watch due to the crazy cliffhangers and the multiple seasons. Once you finish one season, you’re gonna have to watch more to find out what happens to Piper and the gang. It’s also enjoyable for its great comedic aspects and girl power elements. Sure, the show can be heavy at times, but it also offers many moments of comedy and the strong female relationships that are often lacking on popular TV shows.
2. Black Mirror

You want something to take you into a different world? Black Mirror is the show for you. This show is like the Twilight Zone of the modern age. Black Mirror shows the different consequences of modern technology in the modern world. This show is perfect for someone who wants to have their mind blown and doesn’t mind a little existential thinking on their day off.
3. Glow
Want some more female power for the weekend? Glow needs to be on your watch list. With the wave of ’80s nostalgia that we’re loving these days, Glow takes us back to the start of women’s wrestling in Los Angeles. Not only that but it shows a group of misfits coming together to start something big. These women go through hard times together and even fight one another — literally — but at the end of the day, they’re there to make a break in this world.
4. The Great British Baking Show
If you’re looking for something to tickle your taste buds, then The Great British Baking Show is the series for you. Watch these competitors bake amazing treats week after week and try to win their spot as the best British amateur baker. Like any food competition show, there are oven mishaps, failed treats, and tears, but the show is unique because the competitors and hosts treat each other like family and truly wish one another well. It’s a perfect show to watch if you’re looking for something lighthearted and sweet on a fall weekend.
5. Dancing Queen

Do you want a feel-good show that incorporates glamour and killer dance moves? Dancing Queen is here! This show follows Justin Johnson (you may know him as Alyssa Edwards from RuPaul’s Drag Race) and his dancing company Beyond Belief Dance Company. Through this series, you’ll watch Justin lead his team to victory at competitions while balancing his drag career and personal life. It’s a show with a ton of heart and of course a little bit of drama. I’m definitely going to be binge-watching the series this weekend!
