Let’s Talk Fashion
Where do you get your fashion inspiration? “I get most of my inspiration from some of my favorite designers, including Krysta McDaniel and Erin Robertson. I also see myself wanting to look more and more like the girls that write for my favorite blog, Man Repeller.”
Where do you like to shop? “I mostly shop at thrift stores and many of my favorite pieces have come from garage sales or estate sales.”
How would you describe your sense of style? “I would describe my style as [quirky]. It definitely has an older feel since I buy a lot of second-hand items. I have been told I give off ‘grandma chic’ vibes.”
What fashion advice would you give to other students looking to improve their style? “Wear whatever you want and know that we live in an era where the only rule to fashion is that there are no rules. Anything goes.”
What are your favorite trends right now? “My favorite trends include high-waisted cropped flare jeans, hair clips/accessories, and platform sneakers.”
Do you have any favorite fashion designers? If so, who? “Yes! Erin Robertson is probably my favorite because of how interesting and personalized her designs are.”
What do you do for fun – do you have any unique hobbies or interests? “I like to sew and read, and I actually used to play college basketball.”
If you could raid anyone’s closet, who would it be and why? “I would raid Leandra Medine’s closet. She is the founder of Man Repeller and I would for sure wear everything she owns. She has a very New York look to me; it’s minimalistic but paired with loud jewelry and other interesting accessories.”
Where did you buy the items you were wearing? “Everything that I am wearing was bought from thrift stores besides the shoes. I can’t stress how awesome it is to thrift because you find items that are unique because no one else has them.”
Elements of Emilee’s Outfit
1. Scarf Belt
A good scarf can turn any regular outfit into a styled masterpiece. This yellow and blue patterned piece is exactly what Emilee’s look needed to tie it all together (pun intended).
2. Platform Sandals
The platform trend is something that every girl can get behind; that extra padding does wonders for the comfort of a shoe! Emilee’s strappy tan sandals are 10x cuter with the addition of that platform bottom.
3. Button-Up Shirt
This shirt brings out Emilee’s old soul big time. The pastel colors and aged buttons are the foundation of her vintage look, and she totally rocks it.
