Let’s Talk Fashion
Who or what inspires your style? “I’m inspired by ‘preppy style.’ This includes bright colors, patterns, anchors, boats, [and] nautical styles. I also enjoy wearing ruffles and button-downs, inspired by preppy and business casual style.”
Where do you like to shop? “I like to shop at Banana Republic, J.Crew, LOFT, Gap, and Vineyard Vines.”
How would you describe your sense of style? “My sense of style is a collective combination of preppy and glam.”
Why did you choose this particular outfit? “I chose this outfit because I enjoy ruffles, off-the-shoulder tops, and statement pieces. The pinstripe[s on the shirt], rather than the color, [are] mainly why I chose this outfit.”
What fashion advice would you give to other students looking to improve their style? “Having a lot of neutral and [simple] garments to pair with a statement piece, like a top, necklace, or shoes, is a good start in order to mix-and-match.”
What are your favorite trends right now? “I’m currently following the off-the-shoulder and bell sleeve trends right now.”
Do you have any favorite fashion designers? If so, who? “I don’t really know fashion designers.”
What do you do for fun? “I enjoy baking, shopping (it’s therapeutic!), doing watercolor paintings, and playing tennis.”
If you could raid anyone’s closet, who would it be and why? “I would raid Anne Hathaway’s closet because she makes herself known but in a very sophisticated way. She stands out but does it gracefully.”
Elements of Danielle’s Outfit
1. Off-the-Shoulder Top
Danielle’s top is the ultimate preppy piece. The pinstripe and navy blue trim details keep her look classic while the off-the-shoulder ruffles and large bell sleeves are super on trend.
2. Distressed Jeans
Preppy doesn’t have to mean dressy! Jeans are an American classic that never go out of style. Danielle’s distressed bottoms from Gap give a bit of an edginess to her outfit. She wears them cuffed up to showcase her sandals.
3. Sandals
Danielle kept true to her blue and white theme down to her toes with these adorable sandals. They have the tiniest wedge heel and they’re perfect for dressing up or down this summer.
